    SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY BATON ROUGE CAMPUS CHURCH PLANTER

    The Louisiana Annual Conference is seeking a Church Planter to launch a unique and exciting New Church on the Historically Black University campus of Southern University A & M in Baton Rouge, LA.

    Vision for the Southern University Campus Church Southern University and A&M College (SUBR) is a comprehensive institution offering four-year, graduate, professional, and doctoral degree programs. The University is part of the only historically black Land Grant university system in the United States. There are currently over 4,000 African American Students enrolled at SUBR with no Protestant Worship being offered on campus. The primary focus of this new church will be reaching the campus of Southern University Baton Rouge as well as Young Professionals in the Baton Rouge area. This ministry will include an entrepreneurial venture of a Coffee Shop and a Ministry Incubator to develop leaders of God’s Kingdom. The Office of Congregational Development and Transformation will provide support, accountability and coaching for this position.

    The ideal candidate will demonstrate the qualities, characteristics and skills of a church planter, including: • a thriving relationship with God • clear Wesleyan Theology • a heart for evangelism and proven experience of reaching people from all walks of life. • innovative entrepreneurial ministry • willing to take risks • skilled in casting vision • skilled in building teams and engage them in ministry • development of leadership, discipleship & spiritual formation through small groups with a campus presence • launching a celebration of worship, utilizing gifts of preaching and teaching • can easily and naturally build relationships with those in their 20’s to 40’s

    Minimum Qualifications

    • A servant leader who feels called specifically to ministry with a diverse community of college students, and who possesses a heart for starting new things, gifts for relationship building, organizational leadership, pastoral care, and discipleship A bachelor’s degree Ministry experience working with students and/or young adults The candidate will participate in the pastoral licensing process.
