    Associate Chaplain for Muslim & Interfaith Life at Carleton College

    The Office of the Chaplain at Carleton College is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Associate Chaplain for Muslim and Interfaith Life.


    The Associate Chaplain for Muslim & Interfaith Life will work closely with the other chaplaincy staff, providing religious, programmatic, and educational resources to Muslim students and the entire College community. The Muslim Chaplain will help to promote interfaith life for all on campus, contributing to its on-going strength and development by serving as: a religious leader, community builder, educator, supervisor, and program coordinator for religion and spirituality. The Associate Chaplain for Muslim & Interfaith Life will report to the College Chaplain.


    The role of the Carleton Chaplaincy is to help deepen the spiritual and ethical life of the campus. We provide students, faculty, and staff with opportunities to explore the integral relationship between faith and learning, connecting the work of the mind with the heart and soul. This position works an average 24 hours average per week over 11 months, August through June, annually (.55 FTE); some evening or weekend hours for special events.

    The successful candidate should possess a master's degree in a relevant field, or in the process of acquiring a master’s degree in related field; experience with evidence of professional preparation for chaplaincy; demonstrated aptitude for dealing with confidential and sensitive issues; familiarity with a diverse higher education environment and with developmental issues of young adults.
