The University Chaplaincy is a dynamic hub, supporting religious, spiritual, ethical, and cultural life for all members of the Tufts community. We provide pastoral care, support religious and philosophical communities, educate about spiritual and ethical issues in society and the world, and promote multifaith engagement.
The University Chaplain leads the University Chaplaincy team, which currently includes chaplains or residents serving the following communities: Africana, Buddhist, Catholic, Humanist, Jewish, Muslim, and Protestant. Staff include the Program Manager, Chaplaincy Coordinator, a contract Music Director, and 10-12 student workers.
The University Chaplaincy Program Manager provides advanced, specialized subject matter knowledge in higher education administration and religious, philosophical, and multifaith engagement to develop, implement, supervise, and evaluate the University Chaplaincy department, in collaboration with the University Chaplain. Collaborates with the University Chaplain to develop goals and strategies; manages human, financial, and operational resources; develops and oversees data management systems; writes grant proposals for continued and new funding; develops and manages visibility, outreach, communications, and promotion efforts. Leads and supports multifaith conferences and complex spiritual life programs; may design and deliver workshops, trainings, and seminars. Conducts research and reports results. Manages the recruitment and retention of program leaders and participants. Oversees support for and provides advising to student leaders, student organizations, and other constituents. Manages staff hiring, training, and development processes. Supervises the Chaplaincy Coordinator as well as Graduate Assistants, student scholars, fellows, interns, and student workers.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 5-8 years of program or project management experience.
