    Reporting to the Dean of Religious Life, the Hindu Chaplain supports the dean in providing overall support for spiritual life at the university by providing support for a specific campus religious or philosophical community, or for several smaller programs. 

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Provides outreach to organize the Hindu community and develops leadership groups. 
    • Collaboratively assesses needs and develops short and long-term goals. 
    • Collaboratively plans, develops, and implements high-quality spiritual life programs including weekly gatherings, holiday observances, retreats, service and social justice projects, and fellowship events. 
    • Provides pastoral care and leadership in invocations, memorial services, vigils, and other rituals as needed. 
    • Provides education and trainings for particular and general audiences. 
    • Participates and shares leadership in departmental and interfaith initiatives. 
    • Meets regularly with the Dean, the department, and designated department partners. 
    • Collaborates with Program Directors, and serves as a departmental liaison with assigned schools, units, and committees. 
    • Connects the campus with local, regional, and national opportunities and resources. 
    • Plans and monitors program budgets. Composes outreach letters, communications, and reports. 
    • Administers policies and procedures. 
    • May supervise graduate interns and student workers. 
    • Performs related responsibilities as required. 
    • The Hindu chaplain is expected to support a pluralistic approach to the tradition served. 

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • A bachelor's degree in divinity, theology, religion, philosophy, ethics, or a related field and two years of related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. 
    • A master's degree is preferred.
