Navy Chaplaincy Opportunities
Option 1: Navy Chaplain Candidate Program
Who is it for?
Seminarians who are currently enrolled and discerning a call to military chaplaincy.
Eligibility Requirements:
- U.S. Citizen
- 21–37 years old
- Enrolled in an accredited 72+ credit-hour seminary or theological program
Program Benefits:
- Paid on-the-job training (approximately $3,500)
- Mentorship from experienced Navy Chaplains
- No military service obligation while participating in the program
- Leadership and ministry development in a diverse and impactful environment
Option 2: Active-Duty Navy Chaplaincy
Who is it for?
Graduating seminarians or clergy with ministerial experience who are interested in full-time chaplaincy service.
Eligibility Requirements:
- U.S. Citizen
- At least 41 years old
- Completed M.Div. or MTS (minimum of 72 credit hours from an accredited seminary)
- Minimum of two years of professional ministry experience
- Ecclesiastical Endorsement
- Must meet Navy height and weight standards
Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting salary of approximately $135,000
- Full healthcare coverage at low or no cost
- 30 days of paid leave annually
- Tuition assistance for further education
- Tax advantages and military retirement eligibility
